The kitchen is the heart of the home: it may not be true for everyone but it is an important room in a house. In our Petite Maison Triangles it is a large part of the main living space: visible from the terrace, livingroom and dining area. So when designing the space we knew the look of the kitchen was important. Very soon in the process we knew the kitchen would be IKEA metod. We have had Ikea kitchens before and liked the versatility, all the different options and they’re easy to build and install ourselves. With the kitchen planner we designed the entire space: it takes some time but it is easy and smooth. We did apply for a professional approval from Ikea, it’s one of the services they provide, which helped to narrow down some technical options. And where Ikea is strong in versatility, they are less versatile in color and finishes of the panels. And that is where RYK, short for Relook Your Kitchen, comes in: they create panels and handles that are perfectly adjusted to Ikea Faktum, Ikea Metod and Leroy Merlin Delinia kitchens. You can update an “older” kitchen with new panels, which is a good solution if the kitchen is still in good shape but you don’t like the look. But RYK is also a good option if you want to a more unique kitchen than classic Ikea, like us. The versatility of IKEA with a designer look from RYK!
The design of our Ikea kitchen, with a boring beige look:
When we were in the middle of planning the kitchen of la Petite Maison Triangles, I received a news update on the launch of a new color of kitchen panels from RYK. The new color is called Ochre du Lubéron and is a warm terracotta hue that was inspired by the famous Lubéron ochre landscapes. It’s a color that resonates with the South of French: Roussillon where the Sentier des Ochres is situated is a little over 100km from here. It even resonates with “The Souths”: you see this warm terracotta color in haciendas and medinas as well. This seemed like a great match and when we received a sample it was clear that this had to be the color of the new kitchen.
The RYK Ochre du Lubéron press images look amazing. So much more personality, a warm and contemporary look that matches the color palette of la Petite Maison Triangles so well!
We matched the RYK Ochre du Lubéron panels with matt brass Bella handles that give it a warm and luxurious look:
RYK panels come with nine different shapes: from matt and sleek to wavy or with integrated grips to more classic farmhouse panels. We picked the Ange in a matt finish: it looks beautiful on the panels and is very sleek. You can entirely personalize the look of your kitchen by choosing your favorite color, finish and shape, handles and knobs.
We picked a white speckled countertop and the floor will have a terrazzo look (see more here), so the entire space will look contemporary and warm. Not a basic white kitchen, but hopefully the heart of the home.
Work is in progress at la Petite Maison Triangles: it is taking a little bit longer than expected, like most construction projects, but we can’t wait to install the kitchen and reveal the final look of our RYK Ochre du Lubéron kitchen. At least we know the view will be stunning: doesn’t this look like a painting?
Cooking with a view: this will be in our 2024 future!
