Vintage Sapique 5

One of many surprises at Studio Sapique was discovered in the entry greenhouse. As the building was abandoned a few years before we moved in, the greenhouse needed some serious attention. It was a very humid space with lots of fertile tropical plants, dead wood and tiny pebbles in between the plants.

Underneath these tiny pebbles we found an indoor pond! It was custom made in concrete and painted in this beautiful mint green color. The pond even continues under the path through the greenhouse.

We once filled the pond with water to cool down drinks during a party, in stead of using a fridge. It worked well, but the next morning the pond was empty (with bottles standing on the bottom). That means the concrete became poriferous and needs a new waterproof coating. But we might loose this great green color… which goes so well with the tiny succulents, don't you think?
