Our new rainbow sideboard from Cubit
Maybe I was inspired by the extreme weather we've had this spring, with so many rainbows between thunderstorms and sunny days, or maybe it's simply my ever ongoing crush on color that made me pick five colors for our new sideboard from Cubit. I designed this new piece of furniture in their 3D Configurator a few months ago and it was delivered the other day: several well wrapped boxes that each contained a shelf in a different color of the (pastel-) rainbow. Two shades of pink, two shades of peppermint green and two modules in oak wood. All ready to be installed, no need for screws or tools, I just used the patented "connector boards" that I simply slid into the grooves of the shelf modules. They perfectly fit together and it is very satisfying to do too!
I created a little video about the Cubit sideboard, you can watch it here, or read more below:
For all Cubit sideboard units you can pick a base or stands with straight or angled legs. I wanted something very sleek so I went for the base: it's like a small "stage". Which also works nicely when you design some smaller vertical "towers" that I created as you can see in the video above. For designs that are vertical, it is recommended to attach the modules to the wall. All the screws, plugs, hooks and very precise instructions come with the sideboard, so that's very handy.
Bright colors, wood veneers, all kinds of grey, black & white and some soft pastel shades. A rainbow of colors to choose from:
Wally's portrait (a gift from Marij & Martine) got a place of honor on the sideboard too:
Perfectly smooth matte finishes:
One of the "cool" elements in my design is the module with the open top: it's pink and perfect for a big plant, like my Elephant Ear, but I also could see it work with a bunch of smaller plants. I think it would be best if you keep them in their own pots, so that you don't destroy the sideboard with water and dirty soil. You could also use a waterproof container inside the shelf. Originally it is a Cubit module for vinyl records!
Vintage plant books, a wooden elephant from Lucie Kaas and a candle by Finnish Lumi:
Overall I am really REALLY impressed by the quality and finishes of the Cubit sideboard: the soft matte finish is so perfectly smooth and even though the colors are pastel, they are not pale or bleak: especially the inside glows very bright as you can see on the photos. Just the way I like it.
Voilà! I hope I inspired you to add a touch of rainbow to your life, or that you discovered a new brand that creates high quality products that are completely modular and that can be changed over time (or every day if you like!). Be prepared to see our sideboard a lot more often here on the blog or on my Instagram. It's such a versatile piece of furniture and ideal to use in our current (and future) home!
This blogpost was made in collaboration with Cubit. As always, all photos, the video, opinions and words are completely my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep JOELIX.com going! And merci Cubit for your confidence and great designs.
