A yellow surprise

Nothing makes me more curious in a city than open doors. I love peeking behind them to see what's going on: how people live, where they work and simply discover what's going on behind the pretty façades. When I spotted this classy grey staircase in the city center of Copenhagen, the bright yellow glow called my name. I had a look and took my most liked instagram picture. This yellow courtyard is such a perfect place for breakfast or a break from the city rush. Very invigorating, don't you think?

  1. OMG where was I? Didn't see your picture of IG… it is SO beautiful, I hardly remember a building this bring and yellow. I would love to live in there. It is just like having sunshine everyday. And that tiny courtyard … I was very surprised to discover the courtyards in town. All of them, even the smallest, are equipped with tables, chairs and greenery … what's wrong with the Parisian courtyard? Why cannot they do the same?
Looking forward other shots of this beautiful town … I trust you have plenty of them ;-) enjoy your day xx

    1. Merci Ilaria! Oh yes, I shot too many pictures of Copenhagen and Malmö: lots of sorting and editing to do, but I can't wait to share the rest. Some courtyards in Paris are very pretty too, though. What about Aix? I bet there are some hidden gems behind the cities façaces. Have a great Thursday! xx

  2. I love Copenaghen yellow yards and houses. My friends is lucky to live in one of them and the view from her windows is pretty much like this yard, only bigger.
Very beautiful photos Judith! You know, i am planning to go to next year 'the hive' in may, I believe it should take place in Copenaghen right? Will you be there?

    1. Yes, The Hive 2014 will take place in the pretty city of Copenhagen! It would be nice to meet you there :) Lucky you if you get to stay at your friend's place and wake up to one of these pretty views…

    1. No it wasn't “our” courtyard, but another fabulous one indeed ;) You live in such a wonderful city, Anya. Apart from the Tivoli area (too crappy, touristy and festival-like to me) I loved it! Very laid back and the light is so pretty! Have a great Thursday! xx

  3. Love it 100%. Yellow is often thought of as a loud color, but nothing weathers better than yellow. This is a very intimate and beautiful space.

    1. So true, yellow is “loud” in it's own special way. Are you a photographer yourself? Someone with your name (you?) makes very pretty photos! Have a great weekend, Roger!

    1. Haha, no I was very discrete (except for the sound of my camera) ;) I always imagine your home very colorful and bright: yellow sounds like a great fit! Have a wonderful weekend, Jill!
