The ugly truth

Oh yes, this is it: our current bathroom. I'm certainly not following the unwritten rules of the ugly truth challenge by showing ALL of it (I'm trying to keep my blog pretty hihi), but as you can see it's quite an emergency! Even though I still prefer watching the pretty side of home interiors, peeking into daily life in pretty homes is very refreshing and makes it more human, I think. We all leave dirty dishes in the sink sometimes, do we?

Nine years ago we converted the former men's room of our building into a bathroom by simply putting in a shower cabin, central ventilation and a towel radiator. Now it's time to finally create a beautiful prestine bathroom, with a double sink, a walk-in shower, storage and nice tiles. Something like this.

After watering the red blossom last night (which is slowly turning white!) this truth doesn't look so bad:

Would you show what your home looks like on a regular wednesday without cleaning or tidying?

  1. I don't know why you all think that blogging and interiors is about happy clappy stuff. I personally prefer to see 'real life'.

Would I show my home untidy? Yes, but it's often tidy:-) but not dust free – if you know what I mean.

I was surprised to see your Pinterest board of Bathrooms. Have you forgotten about colours???? :-)

You know that graphically, your pics make great patterns and patinas:-)

    Happy Wednesday!

    1. Nooo I didn't forget about colours (which is impossible in our home), but I'm dreaming of white white white and clean :o) Maybe it's a bit like going to a great museum and visiting a local fair: both can be very inspiring in their own way, but I tend to prefer the pretty curated stuff and dream a little…

  2. to be honest, I get bored with blogs that are always happy, pretty, upbeat. that's not what life is like. so yes, I'd show my place in all its wednesday messiness :)

  3. I agree with Petra – sometimes the blogosphere can feel a little like Disneyland i.e. too good to be true! A dose of “the ugly truth” every now and then is quite refreshing, I think.

If the rest of your home is anything to go by, I'm sure your new bathroom will be modern and colourful with a playful twist. Keep your vision of the finished article uppermost in your mind and hang in there! :D

    1. Yeah, I agree, it's all about the right balance. Pinterest is even “worse” I think, so much prettiness out there, it overwhelms me sometimes, even though I love pretty images…
And for the bathroom: we've had plenty of time to dream about it, I'm sure it will be worth it! Thanks for the cheers, Chi!
